- Here we go again! There is so much more of our great United States still to see that we have become full-timers again. In addition to seeing new sights, we will be volunteering our services at national and state parks and points of interest. Check out our diary style blog below to follow us on our travels. Also, look into our archive and check the exciting places we have seen.
Saturday, July 15, 2017 Trip to the ER
Amanda's headache is much worse tonight after hitting her head in the car accident Thursday night. She also has some discharge from her right ear so off to the ER we go. We were there 5 hours but I have to say, the ER was packed with people. At the intake desk, they would ask questions for Amanda and I would communicate with Kristy and Kristy would sign to Amanda. It was a three way interpreting process. Then we had to wait and listen for Amanda's name to be called. It's a good thing Gary and I were there as there was no way for Kristy to hear in such a noisy environment. After a couple of hours they called her name and we went to the next area where they check her vitals , asked what happened to her and said they would send her for a CT scan. Then it was back to the waiting room. Around 9:00pm they called her again and took her for the CT scan and were back in about 10 or 15 minutes where we waited again. Around 10:00pm they called her back to the ER exam room where we got the results of the CT Scan and the doctor examined Amanda's ear. Good news, no ruptured ear drum but her headaches are caused by the trauma from the accident; her diagnosis is Barotrauma. Apparently, hitting her head cause a change of pressure and inflammation which cause the fluid to drain from her ear. I'll have to pick up her prescriptions tomorrow as the pharmacy is now closed. We left around 10:40pm. I had brought a bag of snacks and a toy for Jennifer to play with and Gary watched Jennifer whenever I had to accompany the girls. We are all pooped.
